Germantown View Stormwater Pond
As a part of Montgomery County's ongoing efforts to protect our waters, the stormwater pond within the Seneca Forest community (formerly know as Germantown View) was selected for upgrade and improvements to bring the pond into compliance with current safety and performance standards to reduce the impacts of stormwater runoff on our streams and the Chesapeake Bay. The Germantown View stormwater pond is located in Germantown between Climbing Ivy Drive and Grotto Lane. Originally constructed in 1982 the pond receives stormwater runoff from 25.5 acres, of which 8.6 acres, or 33%, is impervious surfaces (roads, parking lots, rooftops,etc.).
Planned upgrades and improvements to the stormwater management pond include: replace the two corrugated metal risers with a concrete riser structure, slip line the existing 48" corrugated metal spillway pipes with 42" high density polyethylene pipes, Install clay-liner on the face of the dam embankment, repair existing riprap protection and install new headwall at the principal spillway outfall, plant trees, shrubs and aquatic plants around the perimeter of the pond.
